Beware of people bowing to "liability"

I just heard that a marathon runner at the Cowtown Marathon in Texas was disqualified from winning a race he competed in because of wearing his partner's tag, as his partner dropped out of the race before it started. He didn't put up a fuss about being disqualified, but I will. One reader said, "It's a liability issue - can you imagine if he got sick?" Liabilty - please! Haven't you had it up to your ears with everything in life being a "liability issue"? Kids can't go sledding in public parks: it's a liability issue. Restaurants can't give food to the homeless: it's a liability issue. Liability this, liability that: life isn't getting to be much fun anymore, and people hesitate to make important decisions because of - liability. Overregulating everything has become the hallmark of American society, so much so, that if some kind of regulation doesn't exist on "What should I do in this situation?", people simply don't act, and it's absurd!

The late, great leader Major Duncan, USMC (Ret.) recommended this video, so I am passing it along with him in mind; I would also like to quote him from a 2004 speech: "You must accept the fact you're not here to get, you're here to give. You have the responsibility to live up to what your forefathers set. You have joined a group that's more than a group, it's a family. Remember, you're here to do things with no expectations of rewards. Look for the betterment of your team." His words continue to educate and inspire.

Article: TMLC suing DoN over DADT legislation

Excerpt:

Richard Thompson, the Law Center’s President and Chief Counsel, commented, “Ever since the beginning of the Continental Army of 1775, homosexuality in the military has been prohibited. President Obama changed all that at the expense of our future national security merely to curry favor with his radical homosexual supporters, and Congress went along with him. The purpose of our Armed Forces is to win on the field of battle. This new law will eventually have a devastating impact on unit cohesion and the fighting effectiveness of our combat branches. That’s why we must undo this ill- conceived law, and the first step is to discover what went on behind the scenes.”

1,167 retired flag and general officers, 51 of them former four-stars, signed an open letter to President Obama and Congress expressing great concern about the impact that a repeal would have on morale, discipline, unit cohesion and overall military readiness.

Despite the fact that an overwhelming majority of America’s Armed Forces are Christian, the Pentagon brushed aside the religious and moral objections to homosexuality by service members.

QOTD

"Someone was arrested over the weekend for trying to blow up the US Capitol, they happened to be from Morocco," Gingrich said, referring to the FBI arrest of Amine El Khalifi Friday while he was allegedly en route to commit a suicide bombing. "Under the Obama administration's willful dishonesty, it would be highly inappropriate to describe what motivated him, because that would somehow be politically incorrect."

"Liberals by definition would make terrible home schoolers. Assuming their children avoided being aborted they would then be denied the indoctrination and spoon feeding of of rote liberal pablum and nonsense that you can only get in a liberal big government education factory. On the off chance a liberal does home school they will invariably fill their kids head with so many ideas designed to make them reliant on others they will produce a social cripple and tomorrows entitlement pariah without ever letting them meet their like-minded future "Occupy whatever" members. Who will then lead them around by the nose? How will they learn their PC catechism? Leave home schooling to conservatives so they can produce a generation of rugged individuals able to survive after liberalism and socialism create their inevitable bankrupt dysptopia. At least those kids will be able to traverse the smoking ruins of society and restart it using whatever leftover starving liberal drones they can assemble."

Article: "Failing culture puts women in combat"

Author Maginnis lays it on the line by speaking up against the inverted totalitarianism of political correctness.  What interests me about the new dogma of women serving in combat roles are the human factors:  mens' natural inclination is to protect women, and women can be a distraction, which never gets reported anywhere.  In a generation or three, we will continue to sandblast common sense until it's erased from memory.

Received via the Center for Military Readiness, excerpted below.

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum is right about one of the reasons women should not serve in combat, but such commonsense may come too late to keep our daughters from being forced into battle.
Last week Mr. Santorum said women should not serve in combat because men might be distracted from their mission by their “natural instinct” to protect women. He referred to camaraderie of men in combat and said the presence of women was “not in the best interest of men, women or the mission.”
His comments were prompted by the Pentagon’s announcement changing its ground combat exclusion policy to assign women to front line support jobs, like medics and radio operators. This is the latest in a multi-decade campaign of incremental changes that could compel the Supreme Court to require women to be included in a future draft.
We got to this point because feminists insisted, our leaders caved and our culture became so indifferent to violence against women that three-fourths now support the idea of women in direct combat.

"If you want to see the effect of bad government poicy on charcter, simply turn on the news and see how Greek civil servants have been behaving recently. They are victimizers behaving like victims. Greek government policies have made them what they are. But what made Americans who we are is a historically unprecedented level of freedom and responsbility.  The real danger today is not merely a loss of prosperity, but a loss of the kind of character on which prosperity is based."

QOTD

The true character of liberals sometimes inadvertently gets exposed. Liberals are no different than any other social class or individual. Liberals are just better at being deceitful about their true moral fiber. They have to be, that's the only way they can sell their flawed ideology.
(Re: "Roland Martin on GLAAD 'Ish' List" - http://www.theblaze.com/, 8 Feb 2012)

As we move ever closer to the "Kumbaya military" that the Obama Administration and its radical LBGT and liberal feminist backers envision, we draw ever farther from the idea that the job of combat units is to close with and destroy the enemy. As we get further from the mission of Orwell's "rough men" whose job was to protect the folks back home in bed by killing people and breaking things, we get ever closer to losing wars. Good fighter pilots are not often choir boys. Grunts know how to shoot someone in the head, or run a bayonet through them, or break their teeth with a rifle butt, or drop a grenade in their hooch. Make up your mind America: Do you want a military that can protect the nation or one that is politically-correct? You can't have both."
