Haiku of Stumbling home around the 1500 block of University Ave.

Do you see that girl?

Do you think she might be drunk?

"He" is not a "she".

Hmm, was that the night after the college radio station party, or the night I met
fmr sweetheart Y.?

'Cool Little'

This grey autumn afternoon
We found a cool little park
With a cool little name ("Brigadoon")
With a cool little playground
And a cool little stream running along the side
Beyond the edge
We found a a cool little path
('Path' seems to fit better than 'trail')
Leading into a cool little forest
That had cool little breaks in it that you had to push aside
And led to a cool little spot
Where you could see a cool little lean-to across the river
Further still, a group of cool little improbable wildflowers that
Rustled in the cool little breeze
And then you popped out from the other side of the trees.

Will I have time to make it to the distant town and catch the return train?

Is it really the place I conceive it to be?

28 April 2009

I have put off this trip for a long time. This is what far away is, I've come by train and I've arrived at the limits of wherever it is I know... Have only been here a few times after considerable effort to arrange to get out of town. There's a place I want to see - don't get me wrong: this small town on the line is a place I like and I've wanted to walk in again for a long time - to see people - artisans, a town brewer, little round streets. However, there's somewhere else I'd really like to see if I press on a few hours. Haven't I been there before?

A strange recurring dream

To keep with tradition, I drew this in class. I was trying to remember how to do vanishing points I learned in school.

I start in the morning in a cavernous station with large, looming windows. You look out the window and all there is to see is sky in all directions, like we're suspended from a suspension bridge or long floating isthmus. It reminds me of a futuristic port - there are moving sidewalks taking immense numbers of people to and fro. No time to take in details. There's a sense of urgency to catch the train, plane, automobile, whatever it is. It's disorienting yet very remarkable.

The Mysterious case of the Denver Broncos

For some reason, a coach of the Denver Broncos football team implemented some kind of control about eating crummy food as a motivator [hygiene factor?] to try to turn the team around.
As to why the team was a 'laughing stock', I'm not sure. Corned beef hash = higher scoring?

Step outside yourself

How it feels... to be kissed?
... to be up in the middle of the night?
... to eat a spicy bowl of chili?
... to watch a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits marathon?
... to take charge of this post and all government property within view?

BURGERBURGER

BURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGERBURGER

Quote of the day from a friend: A sentry's supervisor greets a big-wig with a friendly, "What's up, Sir?" Sir replies, "I don't know, I guess that would be all relative. Would you like me to provide a definition of 'up' for you?"

What a stuffed shirt.

Engage robot brain

Maybe I felt like I was just 'going through the motions' that day.
