Bombshell indictment of Donkey shenanigans appears in Salon.com

Excerpted from: http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2009/08/12/town_halls/index.html
Camille Paglia is the University Professor of Humanities and Media Studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
No need for me to boast in a period of national political turmoil, so please don't interpret this as such. However, there is a need to rally - being that events fall ever quickly from public consciousness in time for the next news story - and it is the shift in balance of what's making news today that deserves examination.
A haymaker of an article appeared in Salon.com this week (Wow, on Salon?), probably leaving many rat-out-your-parents ethics libs catatonic. This honest indictment by Camille Paglia is some of the finest writing I've seen: graceful, dot-connecting, cogent. Rarely will one of the left's own have the honesty to dare criticize her cronies. Some of the GOP ignore this painful lesson (prominent voices in the party admit they're in disarray and have long been in tatters), but Sen. McCain, the former presidential candidate obviously hadn't when he impaled himself with his own lance, courting the hispanic "open-the-floodgates" lobby, and shishkebabing the rest of the party with him.
So when honest, courageous voices like Paglia's surface, we need to listen well. Her courage invested with this is pallates taller than the shoebox I saw mustered by the GOP in producing a leader for the 2008 election. It's courage we've seen highly evident in these vitriolic town hall meetings capturing so much press (!) and I'm hopeful for Salon for producing an alternative viewpoint. I won't go as far as being "optimistic" though.
Americans, far too long feeling helpless to throw a wedge in the revolving door of legislators and MSM antics quickly forget what a house of cards is in their midst. How often can grassroots America stand by while their intelligence is insulted? From "flyover states" to "astro-turf," it's evident how far out of touch the liberal elite is with its constituency. A unique feature of Paglia's article is making us confront the cumulative nature of these looney goings-on in government. She not only talks the health-care reform debacle, she stacks up all the other remarkable stories which had quickly scuttled away, winds up, and sends them all reeling:
- Speaker of the house (3rd in line to the Presidency) "Representative" Nancy Pelosi calling private citizens "Nazis"
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom I used to admire for her smooth aplomb under pressure, has clearly gone off the deep end with her bizarre rants about legitimate town-hall protests by American citizens. She is doing grievous damage to the party and should immediately step down."
- - Not-so subtle caste warfare from the White House (Don't jump to dismissing the storied "beer summit" and criticism as racism)
"Of course, it didn't help matters that, just when he needed maximum momentum on healthcare, Obama made the terrible gaffe of declaring that, even without his knowing the full facts, Cambridge, Mass., police had acted "stupidly" in arresting a friend of his, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. Obama's automatic identification with the pampered Harvard elite (wildly unpopular with most sensible people), as well as his insulting condescension toward an officer doing his often dangerous duty, did serious and perhaps irreparable damage to the president's standing. The strained, prissy beer summit in the White House garden afterward didn't help. Is that the Obama notion of hospitality? Another staff breakdown."
- Incomprehensible information warfare thrust initiated by former jour-nihilist, now comms-Chief-of-Staff backfiring: http://www.breitbart.tv/spokesman-calls-fox-news-host-flabbergasting-for-questioning-white-house-request-for-fishy-e-mail/ "Report fishy concerns about health-care to flag@whitehouse.gov"
Paglia's article is a modern-day Crisis. Thomas Paine would be proud. Pulitzer, please.

You've caught me in a grim mood, genteel reader.

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California's comments regarding gay marriage. When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised." Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.

Mexican head of state initiates Information Warfare campaign in favor of illegals

What puzzles me most is how we permit the spread of this kind of propaganda - that is, the promotion of law-breaking and the breakdown of order, in a word: anarchy. Read below:

Mexican president lashes out at U.S. candidates
Government to finance public relations push to change American opinions
The government announced that it would sharply lower the banking fees that are charged for remittances to immigrants’ relatives in Mexico City, the capital, to as little as $3 for a $500 transfer. No transfer would cost more than $10 under the program, which is a partnership with the national banking corporation Grupo Financiero Banorte.
It also said it would back a proposal by the immigrants agency to organize a coalition of Mexican activists inside the United States to respond to political attacks on immigrants. The coalition would be called la Liga contra la Discriminación de los Mexicanos en Estados Unidos, or the League Against Discrimination of Mexicans in the United States.
PR campaign targeted at the U.S. public
But the most unusual initiative would budget an undisclosed amount for a campaign inside the United States to “win the battle of public opinion” by highlighting inspirational “success stories” of Mexican immigrants who had prospered in American society.
Calderón did not disclose details of the new campaign, but he said it would help the U.S. public recognize “the irreplaceable contribution of Mexicans to the United States, to its economy and its society.”
A particular target will be the U.S. news media, where he said he would seek an “objective dialogue” on immigration.
“Strategies of simple confrontation and rudeness aggravate an anti-Mexican feeling,” Calderón said, amplifying “the worse phobias even more.”

Immigration hold placed on driver in injury crash
Victim lost both legs from crash; husband founded Napa's Minuteman chapter

Federal immigration officials have asked that Napa authorities hold without bail the man charged with felony DUI and hit and run in an east Napa accident that resulted in the amputation of a woman’s legs above the knee.Francisco Pacheco, 24, is in Napa County jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. ICE seeks holds on criminal suspects who the agency believes may be in the United States illegally. Such holds may result in deportation.
On Feb., 3, Pacheco, who was intoxicated, was driving his 1990 Plymouth on South Terrace Drive when he plowed into the back of Lilian Clark’s vehicle, which was doubled-parked.Clark, 38, had just finished securing her two sons, 4 and 6, in their car seats and was walking around the back of her car to get to the driver’s door. Pacheco hit the rear bumper of Clark’s car, pinning her legs between her bumper and his front bumper.Pacheco, who is on probation for a 2007 DUI conviction, fled. He was chased by Clark’s neighbors, who found him about a block away and held him until police arrived.
In addition to the current charges and the 2007 DUI conviction, Pacheco was picked up last July for misdemeanor DUI. That case is pending, according to Napa County Chief Deputy District Attorney John Goold. Pacheco had no insurance and does not have a valid driver’s license. If found guilty of the charges from Sunday’s incident, Pacheco is looking at a maximum of six years in state prison, Goold said.John Clark, the husband of the victim, has been active in the movement to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States.
In 2006, Clark started a Napa-based chapter of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, a group that has observed border patrols and advocated more strict enforcement of immigration laws. He said his inspiration to form the group stemmed from the three-year effort he went through to legally bring Lilian, then his fiancé, to the United States from her native Chile.“I am passionate about people coming to this country legally. I certainly learned that with the battles I fought to bring Lili here,” he said.Clark said his wife is improving each day.“I took the kids to see her. They know that something terrible happened to their mom because they were in the car when she was hit. When we went to the hospital, she showed them she didn’t have any legs. My son asked her, ‘Why did the bad guy take your legs?’” But Lili is such a remarkable person. She is so strong. She is more worried about the kids than herself.”Dan Johnson, the Napa County Department of Corrections acting director, said when an inmate is placed on Immigration and Custom Enforcement hold, he is interviewed by ICE to determine if he is in the country illegally. If ICE, which is under Homeland Security, determines the inmate is here illegally or violated his or her visa, a deportation hearing is held.“If it is ruled the person is to be deported, the individual is sent to a penal institution in Arizona to await for transport to their native country,” Johnson said.Johnson said if the person is in custody at the jail and a criminal complaint has been filed, the deportation issue is dealt with after the criminal case is adjudicated.

Ding! Ding! Ding!
Church bells should be tolling across the land... as shamnesty was defeated. "Ding Ding, Ding Ding." The solemn sound was played across the airwaves today on the Michael Savage show.
What is it that people don't get about shamnesty??
Below, my first letter to Sen. Warner.

Re: No amnesty for illegals
Dear Senator Warner:
I'd like to excerpt a famous article by psychologist Garrett Hardin to illustrate the very real danger of letting illegal immigration go unchecked:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
If we divide the world crudely into rich nations and poor nations, two thirds of them are desperately poor, and only one third comparatively rich, with the United States the wealthiest of all. Metaphorically each rich nation can be seen as a lifeboat full of comparatively rich people. In the ocean outside each lifeboat swim the poor of the world, who would like to get in, or at least to share some of the wealth. What should the lifeboat passengers do?
So here we sit, say 50 people in our lifeboat. To be generous, let us assume it has room for 10 more, making a total capacity of 60. Suppose the 50 of us in the lifeboat see 100 others swimming in the water outside, begging for admission to our boat or for handouts. We have several options: we may be tempted to try to live by the Christian ideal of being "our brother's keeper," or by the Marxist ideal of "to each according to his needs." Since the needs of all in the water are the same, and since they can all be seen as "our brothers," we could take them all into our boat, making a total of 150 in a boat designed for 60. The boat swamps, everyone drowns. Complete justice, complete catastrophe.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This nation is URGENTLY in need of decisive and meaningful action by Congress to stop the influx of illegals who trample our laws and soverignty.
Sincerely,
Cagey
