I already explained to you (in a rather thoughtful note) that I wasn't interested in your whole life insurance right now because I needed to deal with other priorities first. (Call me later this fall.) I listened to you each time you pretended to be my friend and how you quickly changed the conversation into a lure to an office call. I looked the other way when you finally sent me the e-mail I'd asked for, and you spelled "policies" wrong ("policy's" - come on, and I'm supposed to feel good about giving you thousands of dollars?). So each phone call I see, unanswered, on my caller i.d., is me suspended on a bridge, and you swinging an axe at the straining ropes holding our rapport.

The radio went flying from the table, chunks of plastic crashing to the floor and scurrying for cover. No Bawitdaba would be playing in my kitchen this day. Rapper Xzbit looked at me with concerned eyes. Minutes passed, then without warning, DMX's Ruff Rydaz Anthem came on and I turned it up. Xzbit said, "Damn man, everytime I think something about you and then you go off and do another like this. Respect."

I saw the Donald on Jimmy Fallon (yes, more insomnia) last night who revealed he may be interested in throwing his hat in the ring for a 2012 candidacy. Good for him. I was forced into a double-take in hearing him not only blast the handful or so of OPEC chairmen artificially regulating energy, but TRULY ASTONISHED in letting China have it on our trade imbalance. I rarely see our officials acknowledge the comparative decline in the industrial capacity of the United States, and the money pipe that dumps trillions into the Chinese economy, which has evolved beyond "near-peer competitor" into something far more dangerous.
